Arts Management: A New and Rising Profession

Nowadays, the increasing social demand for art and the necessity to meet this demand in an organized and professional way through various institutional structures, organizations and activities have led to the emergence of Arts Management as a profession and increased its importance day by day. Focusing on the cultural and economic evaluation of the work of art, Arts Management is a multidisciplinary field that requires the mastery of subjects such as promotion and sponsorship as well as a deep art culture, business and management knowledge, project development and design skills.


Who is an Art Manager?

An art manager is a professional who works in a market where the subject and the “product” is art and who can utilize a special product and turn it into an economic and cultural value. The aim of the Department of Art and Culture Management is to train professionals with this competence.


The Department of Arts Management accepted its first students in the 2002-2003 Academic Year. The Department, which began providing education in the main building of the Şirinevler Campus in 2002, has been continuing to provide education at the Ataköy Campus since 2004 with the increasing number of students. The Department of Arts Management produced its first graduates in the 2005-2006 Academic Year.

The Department of Arts Management accepts students with scholarships according to their YKS preferences. In addition, our students can benefit from alternative scholarships and discounts offered by İstanbul Kültür University. In addition to the discounts provided to new students, successful students can earn various scholarships.



The medium of instruction in the Department of Arts Management is Turkish and the English Preparation Class is optionally for the students of the Department.


In addition to the courses given by instructors specialized in the field, our students are prepared for their professional life with the projects they conduct and the mandatory internships they do during their studies.


Students of the Department of Arts Management can graduate by completing their internship of 40 working days at an institution. Students can support their professional experience through their internships at various cultural and art institutions.

Students, who have the opportunity to closely follow contemporary art activities in Istanbul, which is a cultural city and a metropolis, can choose to work in art foundations and associations, theaters, art galleries, museums and similar centers. In addition, they can participate in exhibitions, shows, conferences and events of student clubs at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center and the IKÜ Art Gallery within the University.
